What is Hydrocoele?
It is a fluid-filled sac around the testicle, often first noticed as swelling of the scrotum.
Hydrocele is common in newborns and usually disappears without treatment within the first year. Older men can develop hydroceles, sometimes due to inflammation or injury.
What are the symptoms?
Typically they just present as swellings in the scrotum that do not disappear and usually go on increasing in size gradually. Sometimes they may be associated with pain.
What are the treatment options?
Smaller swellings require conservative management with the use of supporting devices. Larger swellings are treatable only surgically by the conventional open approach.
